Are you project oriented? Do you disdain stains? Do you believe that cleanliness is next to Godliness? Then we would love to have you join us for the Altar Linen Care Ministry!
With deep love and reverence for the Holy Eucharist, the Altar Linen Care Ministry cares for the sacred linens on a rotating schedule. This ministry involves the laundering, including ironing, of purificators, corporals, and large altar cloths, as well as laundering only of finger towels, cup towels, and Baptism towels. Volunteers in this ministry typically serve one month per year. Linens are generally collected once per week (when you are already at church to attend your usual weekend or weekday Mass is a convenient and great time to do this!) and returned that same week. This is a mostly invisible but very important liturgical ministry!
We have routine training events, with upcoming training scheduled for Monday, August 10, from 5:00 - 6:00 p.m. in room 231/232 of the Parish Center. This training is provided to review our processes on how to care for these special linens that contain the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. Purpose of the Training:
Proper handling and care to preserve the linen's condition and appearance.
Preparation and clearing procedures for different services.
Removing and folding linens, washing or storing them properly.
Safety and hygiene: ensuring linens are free from stains, tears, or contaminants before use.
This ministry works hard behind the scenes in their own homes, reverently laundering and caring for the altar linens used on the altar at Mass. Thank you for your wonderful service to this ministry. Please register below if you are interested in attending training on August 10.
