This ecumenical ministry provides sack dinners, beverages, toiletries, and clothing items to the Homeless on the streets of Austin. Mobile Loaves and Fishes (ML&F) is located at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. They have an ML&F Commissary on their property at 903 S. Capital of TX Hwy, Austin, TX 78746, which can be accessed from S. Capital of Texas Hwy or Bee Caves Road. The St. Catherine Team goes out every 3rd and 4th Saturday morning of the month.The Mobile Loaves and Fishes Team consists of a Truck Team and a Make Ready Team. The Make Ready Team starts at 8:00 a.m., and prepares the sandwiches and loads the truck with clothing, food, and toiletries. It takes an average of 1.5 hours. Many families are involved, as their children can easily participate. The Make Ready Team is a great volunteer opportunity for families. The Truck Team starts at 8:30 a.m. and drives to several predetermined locations to distribute food, clothing, toiletries, and kindness. We serve mostly men and women who find themselves homeless and the working poor by going to locations such as camps, government housing, intersections, parks, and transitional housing.
Drivers must be at least 25 years old and have a clean driving record. The trucks hold 5 people, including the driver. Truck teams take an average of 2 hours, depending on the itinerary.Volunteers under 18 years of age MUST be accompanied by an adult.
At the beginning of the month, we send our volunteers an email with the Sign Up Genius online sign-up for both teams. This will allow you to move between teams in you so desire.

Donations needed for Mobile Loaves & FishesMobile Loaves and Fishes serves the Austin area by providing meals, toiletries, and clothing to the homeless in our area. You can help by donating these items:- Men's white tube socks
- New packaged underwear (mens and womens)
- Womens socks
- Toothpaste and toothbrushes
- Granola bars
- For the winter months: hats, scarves, and gloves
- Monetary support accepted: Make checks payable to Mobile Loaves & Fishes and drop off to the Community Ministry Office
