Ministers of the Word (Lectors)

This ministry studies, prepares, and proclaims the scriptures at Mass. The initial training consists of two sessions. An additional practice session is required before each weekend of service.

Our lectors are trained to proclaim the Old and New Testament readings at Sunday and Holyday Masses. The week a lector reads he or she is required to come to Monday evening practice and spend time reflecting on the scriptures with other lectors. The requirements are that you be a baptized, confirmed Catholic in good standing, and a registered member of St. Catherine of Siena Church. You must also be at least 16 years old, and if you are 18 or older, you must have completed Ethics and Integrity in Ministry (EIM) training. 

If you have a great love for the Scriptures, you may be called to this ministry. Usually, you will be asked to serve at 1 Mass per month.
