Women @ the Well Bible Study

Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, September 8, from 9:15 a.m. - 10:45 a.m. in the Cenacle room of the Parish Center (second floor). We will continue meeting on Tuesdays at the same time except during holiday weeks. A calendar of meeting dates and topics is included on this page. The cost to participate for the year is $40 to cover books and materials. Please register by using the form on this page. The Acts of the Apostles Part One (Description by Little Rock Scripture Studies):

What does it mean for a community to follow Jesus? With full benefit of the Holy Spirit, the earliest believers shaped communities of faith from Jerusalem to Rome and all points in between. The Acts of the Apostles, Part One (Acts 1:1–15:35) invites us to witness the Spirit at work as the apostles of Jesus become evangelists and pastors, as communities of believers expand to include Gentiles, and as local challenges test the staying power of the young church. Commentary, study and reflection questions, prayers, and access to online lectures are included. This book is made up of five lessons - we will cover half of a lesson each week for 10 weeks, beginning September 8, 2026.

The Acts of the Apostles Part Two (Description by Little Rock Scripture Studies):

Marvel at the spread of Christianity throughout the Roman Empire in The Acts of the Apostles, Part Two (15:36–28:31). Empowered by the Holy Spirit and the deep conviction that Jesus is Lord, the first generation church continues to witness to the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Paul, a model of courage and missionary spirit, becomes our primary guide as the Gospel sinks its roots into the soil of our world. Commentary, study and reflection questions, prayers, and access to online lectures are included. This book is made up of four lessons - we will cover half of a lesson each week for 8 weeks, beginning January 12, 2027.

About the Author: Dennis Hamm, SJ (From Little Rock Scripture Studies):

Dennis Hamm, SJ, (1936-2023) was Professor Emeritus of Theology at Creighton University and the author of many books and publications on biblical topics including The Acts of the Apostles volume from The Collegeville Bible Commentary series published by Liturgical Press. A priest of the Society of Jesus since 1970, Fr. Hamm had been a Fellow at the Yale School of Divinity, a researcher at the Pontifical Biblical Institute in Rome, and a scholar-in-residence at the Tantur Ecumenical Institute in Jerusalem.
