Fall 2026 Parish Book Study Led by Pastoral Associate Marti Salas
“The desire to pray is itself a clear sign of the Lord’s presence…[and] the art of listening is at the heart of genuine prayer.”
Great teachers of prayer in our tradition show us ways to open ourselves to God, to grow in our ability to listen and truly hear what God is trying to say. True dialogue with God takes years to cultivate. Whether you are looking to start fresh or deepen your prayer life, you are invited to join us as we journey through the book Opening to God: A Guide to Prayer by Thomas H. Green, S.J. this fall. We will touch on prayer methods from St. Ignatius to St. Theresa of Avila, how to dispose ourselves to listen more deeply to God, and ways to discern what God is saying once we are able to stop talking and “have ears to hear.”
The book study will be led by St. Catherine of Siena's Pastoral Associate, Marti Salas, on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. beginning September 2; and Friday mornings at 10:30 a.m. beginning September 4. Both sessions will be held in room 233/234 of the Parish Center. Calendars for Wednesday and Friday sessions are available by clicking the buttons below.
The book is available on Amazon (click here). You can purchase it from St. Catherine's for $12 or you can order a paperback or Kindle version on Amazon. Please choose which option you prefer when completing the registration form.
