To My Dear Beloved Parishioners,
Greetings from Fr. Pat. This is an update that will affect everyone in the parish. We have been in dialogue with the city about our plans to install a new air conditioning system. The bureaucracy carries on. We are in compliance, and now we are waiting for the final order to go. We expect, fingers crossed, to be moved away from the main church by mid-late July.
For the next four months, we will celebrate Mass in Johnson Hall while they pull asunder the sanctuary. We have to make adjustments. All funerals during that time will take place at 2:00 p.m. in the Hall. We will not be able to accommodate Funeral Receptions. We have to work with the pre-school, who use the Hall in the mornings.
In July, I will be away on vacation. In August/September, Fr. Johannes will be away on his vacation. I don’t want the burden to fall on the priests to celebrate all the masses while the rest are away. For that reason, we are going to make temporary changes to our Mass schedule. Please take note….
Beginning on the weekend of August 1st and 2nd, Mass will be celebrated in Johnson Hall at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. On Sunday, possibly for the next four months, Mass will be celebrated at 7:30 a.m., 9:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m. We are cancelling Sunday Mass at 5:00 p.m.
We are cancelling Mass and Confessions on Tuesday evenings for the duration of our stay in the Parish Center. We are also cancelling Mass at 12:00 midday on the Wednesdays for the duration of our stay in the Parish Center.
We don’t want a situation where there are thousands of people showing up for Mass in the Parish Center. The capacity of the Parish Center is less than the capacity of the church. For this reason, please consider attending another Sunday Mass where the capacity is not high. In particular, the 9:30 Sunday morning Mass typically has about 600 people in attendance. It would be helpful if some of the 9:30 regulars would consider attending either the 7:30 a.m. or the 11:30 a.m. Sunday Masses.
All of this adjustment will take place while we are renovating the Church. Please God things will go well and at the end we will all be happy with the outcome. I appeal for your understanding.
With love, Fr. Pat
