All Saints’ Day, November 1, is not a Holy Day of Obligation this year because it falls on a Saturday. We will celebrate our usual 5 p.m. Mass on Saturday, November 1, as a Vigil Mass for All Souls’ Day.
November is the month in which we remember our beloved dead. During this time, we intercede for those who have gone before us in faith, that they are received and embraced by God. Here are some special ways to remember your departed loved ones in prayer at St. Catherine’s during this month of remembrance:
• All Souls Day: Our Special Mass of Remembrance will be celebrated during the 5 p.m. Vigil Mass on Saturday, November 1. There will be a candle ceremony for those who are mourning the loss of a loved one. • Sign their names in our Book of the Names of the Dead which will be placed in front of the Baptismal Font during the month of November. • Bring a photo or memento of your loved one and place it in the narthex on the Day of the Dead (Dia de los Muertos) Parish Altar. The altar will be set up in the narthex from Saturday, November 1 until Saturday, November 22. Please label your photo or memento with your name.
