World Grandparent's Day Celebration

On Thursday, July 24, Senior Ministry will honor grandparents and the elderly for World Grandparent's Day with a blessing at noon Mass and a celebration luncheon afterwards in the Parish Center Pomegranate Café. Everyone is invited. Pope Francis established World Grandparent's Day to honor grandparents and the elderly for their role in families and communities. The date for this annual event was set for the fourth Sunday of July, near the feast of Sts. Anne and Joachim. This year, we will celebrate Grandparent's Day at St. Catherine of Siena on July 26-27 with a blessing at weekend Masses. We will also be distributing a packet of seeds, or Seeds of Hope, which can be symbolically planted (in cooler weather) to remind grandparents that they plant Seeds of Hope for their grandchildren and all children in the world. Children can also plant these seeds in honor of their parents and grandparents.
