Knights of Columbus Brother Spotlight: David Tarasi
by David Tarasi
My first experience with the Knights of Columbus, like many other things in this world, was shared with me by a person I deeply admire; my father, August Tarasi, of Ormond Beach, Florida.
I witnessed his engaged participation in our family church, firsthand, ranging from serving as a lector and Eucharistic minister for the sick, to earning his title of “Sir Knight” as a fourth-degree member of his local Knights of Columbus chapter. Each of these steps not only enrich our faith, but they have served as a path to follow keeping the desire to serve others firmly focused upon.
As I engaged Saint Catherine’s for my own continued Catholic growth and education, I was provided the blessing of joining the Adult Confirmation class, where I had the honor of studying under Mr. Paul Root, a member of St. Catherine’s local Knights of Columbus Council #8156. With God’s generous blessings I have continued to seek guidance, love, brotherhood, and spiritual development while at St. Catherine’s and as a Brother of the Knights of Columbus… and have FOUND IT HERE!
Presently, I have the humble honor of supporting the OCIA ministry for a third year, as well as the Knights of Council #8156 towards a second year. One of the most invaluable elements of our particular chapter is the extensive “wisdom and welcome” provided by every brother. Furthermore, members bring a level of engagement and willingness to serve that I find truly inspiring and simultaneously humbling.
Whether they’re serving our church through myriad fundraisers, or whether they are engaging the community and developing sustainable relationships throughout Central Texas, the Knights of Columbus at Saint Catherine of Siena is not only admirable in the strength of their commitment, but more so, in the humility of their focus upon serving our parish and ultimately our Lord.
I sincerely encourage any gentleman parishioners to come out and meet the brothers, and if you are seeking to grow in your faith, desire to support your community, and tangible brotherhood is something that’s important to you… YOU WILL FIND IT HERE!
